It encompasses most tourist destinations including Benidorm and Alicante. The name Costa Blanca won't surprise you if you fly over it.
In fact, you will appreciate the contrast between the deep blue Mediterranean and its vast white spaces, whether it's the fine, warm sand of the endless beaches or the rocky elevations with their typical white houses of the South.
Some anecdotes say that this name was invented by the airline British European Airlines about 60 years ago, as a slogan to promote a new air route between London and Valencia, with this purely white view from the sky. Since then, connections have been frequent, and Alicante Airport is one of the busiest in Spain.
